STEM Day with Marquette University and Dreams Soar

Join us for a day of fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities, presented by Marquette University College of Engineering and Dreams Soar, an organization focused on bringing awareness to women and girls in STEM throughout the world. Our promenade will feature: Electronics: learn the basics of circuitry using Snap Circuits Aviation: test different materials in this paper airplane challenge Mechanics: get a simple intro to machines with an extending grabber Computing: use a drag-and-drop coding program to experiment with EV3 robots Dreams Soar founder, Shaesta Waiz was born in Afghanistan and immigrated to the United States. Today she is the first female civilian Afghan pilot, the first to earn an undergraduate (and graduated) degrees in her family, and is about the second woman (and youngest) to fly around the world solo, all to inspire other women to reach for the stars.

Epicurean Evening | A Culinary Event for Clean Wisconsin

Clean Wisconsin, the state’s oldest and largest environmental nonprofit, is bringing its annual celebration of Wisconsin’s healthy environment back to the shores of Lake Michigan. For 47 years, Clean Wisconsin has worked to protect the state’s clean water and clean air, and on June 8th the organization will host its 2nd annual Epicurean Evening fundraising gala at Discovery World. James Beard Award-winning chef Adam Siegel, Executive Chef of The Bartolotta Restaurants, joins fellow James Beard Award-winner Justin Aprahamian, Executive Chef and owner of Sanford; and Peter Sandroni, Executive Chef and owner of La Merenda and Engine Company No. 3 for this can’t-miss culinary event. The event kicks off with a cocktail hour featuring specialty drinks crafted by local mixologists. A wine pull and a live auction are also on tap for the evening. All proceeds support Clean Wisconsin’s statewide work to preserve and protect Wisconsin’s clean air, clean water, and natural heritage. Tickets for the 2nd annual Epicurean Evening are $150 each, or $1,200 for a table of eight. Les Paul's Birthday Celebration

In honor of Les Paul, Discovery World celebrates the birthday of this legendary innovator and inventor with a day dedicated to the “Wizard of Waukesha”. WGN radio legends Steve King & Johnnie Putnam highlight the celebration with a special presentation at 11am discussing the life of Les Paul and the amazing influences he’s had on the music business. Steve and Johnnie will also sign copies of their book “A Little More Les” following the performance. Community partners from the Les Paul Foundation, Cream City Music, and First Stage will also be onsite with interactive programming. And everyone in attendance can get a special preview of our upcoming Musicology Summer Camp.

Iron Chef Milwaukee
