Dylan Hoffman, a second grader who lives in Caledonia, won the annual Doodle 4 Google competition.

His pirate-themed drawing won him a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology grant for his school, a Chromebook laptop and a trip to New York City where his work, along with the finalists from all 50 states, will be on display at the New York Public Library.

The drawing will be featured on Google's U.S. homepage this Friday.

Hoffman was one of more than 114,000 kindergarten through senior high school students around the country that entered the contest. The theme of the contest was "If I could travel in time I'd visit..."
