More than 500,000 holiday lights will illuminate Downtown beginning on Nov. 16.

Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-off Extravaganza is on Nov. 16

It's almost time to get into the holiday spirit, and what better way to get festive than attending the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganza?

The night begins on Nov. 16 with Mayor Tom Barrett lighting the Christmas Tree in front of City Hall at 5:29 p.m. Then, head over to Pere Marquette Park, where the Holiday Lights will be turned on, illuminating Downtown with more than 500,000 lights.

In addition to the lighting, there will be an extravaganza in Pere Marquette Park that includes a kickoff show with music, cocoa and cookies, jingle bus rides and a fireworks finale, all for free! If you can't make it down the entire event will be broadcast on WISN 12.

Where: Pere Marquette Park, 900 N. Plankinton Ave.

When: Pre-show entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m.; program begins at 6:30 p.m.; lighting and fireworks are at 7 p.m.

Highlights: Food, holiday cheer and lights. Lots and lots of lights.
