Thai food, winter gear for your car and coif and more – we've got another round of great stuff we like in store for you in this week's OnMilwaukee.com Recommends.

Thai-namite – I had not been to this Brady Street Thai restaurant and sushi bar since shortly after it opened, but I returned this week and left asking myself why haven't I been eating there all along? We ordered a mix of items, including the pud Thai (interestingly served in a omelet), maki rolls, miso soup and an amazing cucumber and radish salad drizzled in a sweet and sour dressing. Everything was really fresh and presented attractively and the cafe was filled with natural light and ... oh, you get it. Just go there and be happy. – Molly Snyder

Coiffie – 'Tis the season for cold ears, Wisconsin. I love stylish headgear, but it's difficult to pull off and hard to find. Most winter hats that keep me truly warm look awful (my dad's orange hunting cap comes to mind) or give me hat hair. I got turned on to Coiffie earlier this month, and I'm so glad – this adjustable hood with silk lining is beautiful, stylish and snuggly-warm. It's a great alternative that provides the needed insulation and doesn't mess up your hair. I like the black one best – it's very Grace Kelly, and it goes really well with peacoats that don't come with hoods. Find it online here. – Colleen Jurkiewicz

Replacing your windshield wipers – As the weather starts to get colder most of us think about making sure our cars are ready for the season. One of the most important winter checks is one that most people don't even think about. Windshield wipers. I was talking with my car fix-it guy the other day and he asked when the last time was I put new blades in. I wasn't sure and he said with winter coming it's much harder for old blades to clean a windshield. They get stiff quicker and it takes them longer to loosen up and worn blades which may be ok during a summer rain will do a lousy job of cleaning a windshield when you need it the most. Replacement blades are inexpensive and even an idiot can put new ones on by him or her self. It's an important but often overlooked part of winterizing your car. – Dave Begel

Poutine at Red Dot – The Canadian comfort food known as poutine has been at Red Dot, 2498 N. Bartlett Ave., for quite some time now, but it was only recently that I stopped in to try it for myself. Needless to say, now I know what all the fuss is about. Billed as "the ultimate French Canadian experience," the bar and restaurant's dish comes with crispy French fries topped with white cheddar cheese curds and gravy. It's not at all the heaping plate of smush I was expecting. The small will get you a pretty decent plate for $3.50, but the regular ($6) and party size ($9) come with the option to add chicken, turkey or Canadian bacon for a couple bucks extra. And, if that weren't good enough, you can sub in tater tots on any size for just $1. It's the next best thing to roadtripping to Canada. – Renee Lorenz
