{image1}Milwaukee has a history of chocolate, from the late Ambrosia to the modern-day Great Northern Chocolate, so it's not a surprise that Starbucks choose Wisconsin as one of three states to test market a new spin on hot cocoa, a hot drinking chocolate beverage called Chocofino.

"We are inviting Wisconsin customers to enjoy a unique 'drinking chocolate' experience," says Suzanne DeChant, Midwest marketing manager. "Chocofino is completely different than the hot cocoa you enjoyed as a child. It is a perfect afternoon or evening indulgence."

The beverage test phase is from March 17 to April 22, however, Chocofino will be offered in all Wisconsin stores through June 29. Wednesday, March 24 is a free sampling day from 4-6 p.m. at all area Starbucks.

Inspired by the tradition of chocolate houses, Chocofino is a blend of cocoa powder and cocoa butter, combined with whole milk and then steamed. Drinking chocolate differs from conventional hot chocolate because of its full-bodied flavor and unique consistency. It also includes select ingredients not found in hot chocolate, such as cocoa butter.

The city-wide campaign will be featured in a variety of popular Milwaukee venues, including local theatres, concerts and museums. Milwaukeeans are invited to check out the Chocofino Cab, a Euro-designed, chocolate-brown car delivering complimentary Chocofino beverage coupons around town.
