This new series focuses on tenants of The City Center at 735 – a 16-story, 100-year-old office building located at 735 N. Water St. overlooking the Milwaukee River. The opulent City Center houses a diverse mix of Milwaukee businesses, including this week’s focus: PC LAN Services.

PC LAN is a minority-owned small business – Rexx Igunbor is the founder and CEO – that’s been located in Downtown Milwaukee for more than 10 years. The company moved from the East Town area to the City Center in early September.

In a nutshell, PC LAN keeps its clients’ computer systems and networks up and running, as well as safe and secure, so company owners and employees can pursue their passions, not their technology problems.

"We bring enterprise solutions at a small business price tag," says Igunbor.

PC LAN works primarily with small to mid-sized companies that have anywhere from 10 to 250 employees.

"I enjoy working with small companies and watching them grow and helping them with all their technology challenges," says Igunbor. "It’s very gratifying work. And if my clients can sleep at night, I can sleep at night."

PC LAN has partnered with Dell, HP, Microsoft, Barracuda Networks and more. The company currently employs seven people and Igunbor plans to hire more in the future.

"I’m really planning to grow this business," says Igunbor. "We were very focused on the private sector, but now we’re broadening our horizons."

Igunbor was born in West London, England, and moved to the United States with his family to Chicago when he was 8 years old. He has dual citizenship in the United States and United Kingdom.

"Unfortunately for me, because I lived in Chicago for a long time, I am a Bears fan, but I also root for the Bucks and the Brewers," says Igunbor.

Igunbor gradated from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign with a degree in finance and industrial psychology and lived in New York City before moving to Milwaukee in 2005.

Igunbor's wife is from Eau Claire and his son attends college in Illinois, so the move to the Midwest was motivated primarily to be closer to family. However, in the past decade, Igunbor has found Milwaukee to be a productive place for business, too.

"The pace is different here and the traffic is not traffic, which is nice," says Igunbor. "There are a lot of transplants like myself in Milwaukee’s business sector – people who are from other cities – and there are a lot of opportunities here. There are also, of course, a lot of challenges."

Igunbor would like to see Milwaukee improve its wealth distribution and for people and businesses to work more collectively.

"Often we are myopic in our thoughts and do not realize how much is available to us from the people around us," says Igunbor.

Igunbor currently lives in Menomonee Falls with his wife and his two youngest children. Giving back to the community is important to Igunbor, who volunteers as a football coach and is an active church member. He has also volunteered at adult literacy organizations.

"Even if you donate an hour of your time it makes a big difference," says Igunbor.

Igunbor is also a self-described "foodie" who enjoys dining, among other places, at Sake Tumi, Carnevor and dandan.

"Dandan recently opened, but it’s already a favorite," he says."Really great food and ambience."

Igunbor is also a basketball fan and supportive of the new Bucks’ arena.

"It’s great for the city. It’s inspiring tremendous growth. Businesses are returning to the city to be a part of the action," says Igunbor. "These are very exciting times for Downtown Milwaukee."
