Mazen Muna loves cars. And people. And hot dogs.

Owner of Dogg Haus and Plum Lounge revs up another venture

Mazen Muna will open a new satellite location for high-end, East Side auto service Metro Car Wash & Detailing Center that he hopes will be the first of many. This first spot will be at the 833 Building, 833 E. Michigan Ave.

"We will be an exclusive amenity to those people to service their vehicle detail needs while they are at work," says Muna.

The 17-story, 358,000-square foot building features floor to ceiling windows on the east side, giving tenants stunning views of Lake Michigan. The building houses tenants Microsoft, Major League Baseball, Godfrey and Kahn, Colliers International and more.

Although the service is only available to tenants of the 833 Building, Muna plans to expand the concept to other buildings in Downtown Milwaukee and beyond.

Muna is the founder and owner of five Dogg Haus restaurants, Plum and Metro Car Wash, a high-end car wash and detailing business at 1510 N. Van Buren St. The original location will continue to operate seven days a week.

In 2009, Muna purchased Metro Car Wash and transformed it from a struggling business to one of the city's top-notch car care centers. Aside from washing and detailing, Metro offers engine cleaning, dent removal and touch-up painting of minor nicks and scratches. Metro also provides pick-up and drop-off of vehicles for detailing.

Interstate Parking, which is partnering with Muna in the new venture, sought him out because they wanted to replicate the high-end service of Metro Car Wash in new locations. Interstate Parking is the largest parking services provider in the city. Interstate and Metro will remain separate businesses but work together as partners.

"They wanted to partner with somebody that could provide class A service for a class A building," says Muna.

The new car wash and detailing service, also called Metro, will provide washes, detailing, on-site dent removal and other minor repairs. Nick Sanfillipo, owner of Acci-dent, will serve as the mechanic.

Muna grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Pulaski High School and later from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in marketing and finance. He currently resides with his family on the North Shore.

In 2005, Muna opened the original The Dogg Haus on Brady Street at the age of 24. Since then, he has opened 11 restaurants, two car washes and one lounge.

Growing up, Muna always loved cars which inspired his interest to own a car wash and detailing service.

"I was an only child. I spent a lot of time in the garage just learning how things worked and how things were put together," he says. "I started my own side business in my parents' house when I was a kid."

During college, Muna spent six years in the car rental field. He washed cars for Thrifty Car Rental and later worked as an assistant manager for Alamo Rent-A-Car. During this time, he also took 18 college credits.

Although an enthusiast of business, cars and the service industry, Muna's passion stems from people.

"I love people. At all of my businesses I am very involved with my customers. All of my clients are in need of different things but all require one thing in common: respect and courtesy with no overselling while delivering results," he says. "This next venture is a huge milestone for Metro Car Wash and myself. It's especially uplifting to be able to provide a career for the staff members and not just a job."
