Wauwatosa just got a little more fashionable.

MOdE women's clothing store is located at 9125 W. North Ave. in the space that was formerly home to Chocolaterie Stam and, later, Locker's Chocolate Cafe.

"We're opening on Friday, Sept. 7," said owner Patrice Bouchard. "Fingers crossed!"

Bouchard said that MOdE will be an all-purpose clothier offering premium brands and affordable prices alike. "It's a nice mix," she said. "You have a pair of premium denim for $180 but you can great a great top for $35 or scarf for $30 and jewelry for under $20."

Bouchard is the former part owner of Fashion District in Hinsdale, Ill. She is married to Paul Bouchard, whose family owned Bouchard's sporting goods stores. That business was sold in 2005.

MOdE will offer labels like Uggs, Hudson, AG, Paige, 7 for Mankind, Ella Moss, Splendid, Frye, TOMS and Lucy workout clothes. A Chicago native, Bouchard has a background in retail and worked for Henri Bendel accessories at Nordstorm's.

She and her husband recently moved back to the Wauwatosa area and, she says, completely gutted and remodeled the space for MOdE.

"I always thought this was a great space, and it's been sitting here for a while. Before we moved (to Chicago) I thought it would be a great place for a store," she said. "There's an Alterra next door that's always so busy. So when we moved back and it was still vacant I thought, 'Well, you don't know if you don't try.'

"We've had a good response from the community. People are excited to see the space filled and we're excited to do something a little different for the community."
