OnMilwaukee.com learned -- thanks to a tip from a reader -- that after more than 60 years in business, Owl Imports, 7546 W. Greenfield Ave., is going out of business.

According to a clerk, Owl Imports will close on Jan. 15 because current owner Steve Naimon is retiring. The West Allis knick-knack shop -- specializing in beer steins, clocks, music boxes and figurines -- will have a huge sale through the last day of business.

The space is already leased out and will become an independent furniture store.

Ironically, Owl Imports was listed in another OnMilwaukee.com blog earlier today about kitschy local businesses that are still open despite the recent loss of classic establishments like Goldmann's Department Store and Bryant's Cocktail Lounge.
