The P.H. Dye House at 320 E. Buffalo St. is filling the space left by Sprout with a brand new shopping complement to the boutiques of the Third Ward.

Sachen Contemporary Imports will open Friday, April 15. The store's concept is derived from its name, "sachen," which means "things" in German.

Owner Stacy Zielinski, who also co-owns Bay View's Transfer Pizzeria and VIA Downer on the East Side with her husband, plans to offer everything from toys to cookware in the new retail space.

"The goal is to complement the many home goods stores already
located in the Third Ward by providing items that are functional rather than decorative," Zielinski said in a statement.

The store will cater to a wide range of shopping tastes with an array of brands and items not typically found in mass retailers. There will also be a variety of United States and Wisconsin-made items.

The grand opening of Sachen Contemporary Imports is scheduled to coincide with Spring Gallery Night. In participation with the seasonal art event, the store will also showcase the artworks of M.M. Peters' "Vulnerability, Bandage & Alter Ego."
