88Nine Radio Milwaukee has introduced 414Music.fm, a new channel dedicated entirely to Milwaukee music.

88Nine Radio Milwaukee starts first all-local music radio channel and stream

This weekend, 88Nine Radio Milwaukee will throw a big block party to celebrate its 10th anniversary, but that's not the only way the local radio station is ringing in a decade on the Cream City's airwaves.

Tuesday morning, starting at 6 a.m., 88Nine officially brought 414Music.fm on air, a new HD2 broadcast channel – as well as mobile and online stream – entirely dedicated to playing Milwaukee music.

"Radio Milwaukee is uniquely positioned to program an all-Milwaukee-music channel because of our focus on Milwaukee artists since we first went on air 10 years ago," program director Jordan Lee said in a press release. "We're proud to play all Milwaukee music because it rivals music from any city in the country.

"Our playlist ranges from earlier groundbreaking Milwaukee bands to some of today's top artists. The list of Milwaukee music we're playing includes the Violent Femmes, Citizen King, Coo Coo Cal, Field Report, IshDARR, Trapper Schoepp, Naima Adedapo, Vinyl Theater, Willy Porter, GGOOLLDD, WebsterX, Paul Cebar and the late Al Jarreau."

414Music.fm can be found on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee's HD2 frequency, available on both car and home radios, as well as online at the channel's official website and 88Nine's mobile app.

"This is a perfect time for us to launch this service because Milwaukee's music scene is thriving and deserves the support," Lee said. "It's been a real pleasure to program the station and be reminded about how much amazing Milwaukee music is out there."

And to find more of that amazing local music, 88Nine encourages local musicians to drop by the new 414Music.fm website to upload their music – recordings new or old – for consideration. As of right now, Radio Milwaukee notes the new channel has submissions from about 100 Milwaukee groups.

For more Milwaukee tunes, you can, of course, always listen to 88Nine, as well, which plays at least one Milwaukee musician every hour, in addition to "414 Live," the station's on-air local interview and performance show. Or, you can stop by its block party celebration this weekend, featuring Milwaukee-based performers like D'Amato, Abby Jeanne, Field Report and more.
