When I was six years old, my family went to King's Island in Cincinnati, home of a live Nickelodeon stage called Splat City. I was unfortunately too young to participate in any of its green goo-soaked shows, but my sister got selected – with my mom dragged along for the ride. However, backstage at the last minute, my sister chickened out, forcing my mom to go out on stage and get slimed all by herself in front of hundreds. Amazingly, my sister didn't have to walk the trip back to Milwaukee.

Anyways, good news for '90s kids and mothers looking for revenge: The iconic Nickelodeon game show "Double Dare" is coming to Milwaukee's Miller High Life Theatre for a special live tour stop on Wednesday, Nov. 7 – complete with original host/kids entertainment champion Marc Summers, OG sidekick Robin Russo, a whole mess of green slime and, for the sake of the finalists that make it to the final obstacle course, hopefully not the giant peanut butter and jelly sandwich flag search. (That thing murdered more dreams than alarm clocks.)

For those unfamiliar with the show, the '80s and '90s Nickelodeon favorite featured two teams answering trivia questions for points. The memorable parts, however, were the physical challenges – crazy and messy games played for points if a team was "double dared" to answer a question they didn't know – and the final obstacle course, featuring all sorts of slides, gross gags and, of course, gallons of green slime and mystery goos that, according to a source very close to the author, was not fun to get out of one's hair.

The live reincarnation of the show promises to bring all of that back, with two teams of randomly selected audience members battling it out for hopefully a trip to Space Camp. (And maybe BK Ratch Tech shoes losers for the losers?)

"Hosting the 'Double Dare Live' tour couldn’t be any more exciting, and I look forward to bringing the fun and messiness of 'Double Dare' to audiences across the country," said Marc Summers, in a release. "Doing the show again with my sidekick Robin will fulfill childhood dreams of the generation that grew up with us and introduce this classic show to the next generation."

Tickets for the show go on sale starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 at the Miller High Life Theatre box office, online at Ticketmaster.com and over the phone at (800) 745-3000. They'll make the perfect gift for nostalgia lovers or vengeful mothers with a daughter who just might happen to have a birthday this week!

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
