A local voice can go a long way.

WZTI-AM 1290 Martini Radio, the station known for songs of yesteryear and today with velvet voices and jazz influences, is adding a couple of local hosts to its weekday lineup. Starting this week, Carol Vonn and Terry Love will be on the air.

"As we continue to build 1290 Martini Radio, the next step was to add more local personalities to the lineup," said Stan Atkinson, the station’s radio operations manager.

"I’m thrilled to add Carol Vonn to middays and Terry Love to afternoons."

For Vonn, this will be her second hosting shift of the day, as she continues her morning co-hosting duties with Jane Matenaer on station WLDB-FM B93.3, where she is known as "CV."

"I’m very excited to join the lineup of the newest station in Milwaukee!  I think the music is fun to listen to, and my goal is to make the midday show just as fun," Vonn said in a release.  "I’ve got my stogie and fedora ready to go!"

Love, a former on-air voice on WLDB-FM and on 1290 when it was WMCS-AM, the "Talk of the Town," will also serve as production director at 1290 Martini Radio.

"I’m proud to be able to play legendary artists like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., whose music is timeless and really tells a story," Love said.

Vonn and Love join Phil Anderson, who has been with the station since it signed on, as the main on-air staff.  Anderson hosts "Martini Blues Lounge" Monday through Saturday evenings from 7 p.m. to midnight.

POPULAR TV: Want to take a guess what is the most popular TV program in our area most afternoons?

If you guessed "Ellen," or "Rachel Ray" or the 4 p.m. newscast on WTMJ-TV CH. 4, you’d be wrong. In July, the most popular show for adults 25 to 54 in the area called "early fringe" by broadcasters, was "Judge Judy." The long-running syndicated program lifted WITI-TV Fox 6 to the top of the viewing charts in her 4 p.m. time slot.

"Judge Judy" performed better than "Dr. Oz," "Maury Povich," "Dr. Phil" and "Jerry Springer."

On Sept. 9, "Judge Judy" will move to 3 p.m. to make room for the new "Studio A" with Katrina Cravy, Ted Perry and Brian Kramp.

WEEKEND SPORTS: Labor Day weekend will provide plenty of TV sports viewing with the final week of the NFL preseason leading the list.

CBS Sports Network will be focusing on tennis, covering the 46th annual U.S. Open Championships from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Event coverage will start on Saturday and run through Sept. 9. Lead play-by-play announcer Bill Macatee is joined by analysts Mary Carillo and John McEnroe in the booth. Jim Courier returns for his fifth year as analyst and calls the action alongside Ian Eagle.

CBS Sports’ full coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships will be available on CBSSports.com through live streaming here.
