Summerfest doesn't appear to be wasting time with its Marcus Amphitheater headliner announcements for 2016. The Big Gig already announced pop star Selena Gomez as its opening night headliner, and now this morning, it announced its second headliner: country star Blake Shelton, who will kick off its first weekend on Friday, July 1.

The news comes quickly off 0f Shelton's performance last night at the CMA Awards, where the country star was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year – a prize he's won five times in the past – but lost out to Chris Stapleton. Shelton's also been busy serving as a judge on the hit NBC singing competition "The Voice," hosting "SNL" earlier this year, releasing his latest album "Bringing Back the Sunshine" last September and dominating tabloid headliners with both his recent divorce from fellow country star Miranda Lambert and budding new relationship with fellow "Voice" judge Gwen Stefani.

He also performed this past summer at Country Thunder. His last Milwaukee show was in 2013 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Tickets for his Summerfest show go on sale starting Friday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Summerfest box office either in person or over the phone (1-414-273-2600), at Walmart stores, at Ticketmaster ticket centers, at Ticketmaster.com or through either of Ticketmaster's phone lines (1-800-745-3000 for a live agent, 1-866-448-7849 for the Ticketmaster Express automated line).

There will also be a Stay Connected pre-sale for those who subscribe to Summerfest.com email alerts, like Summerfest on Facebook or follow The Big Gig on Twitter, running from Thursday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. or until the pre-sale inventory is exhausted.

Stay tuned for more Summerfest headliner announcements to come.
