Two of The Gufs will be back in Milwaukee next month for a special show at Colectivo's Back Room.

Two Gufs set "reunion" show at Colectivo Back Room

It's a good day for marquee Milwaukee music. The Violent Femmes announced a five-city tour of Wisconsin for October, and now two members of The Gufs have announced a reunion show of sorts for Oct. 27 at The Back Room at Colectivo.

The Gufs, formed in Milwaukee in 1989 by brothers Goran and Dejan Kralj along with Scott Schwebel and Morgan Dawley, achieved significant success with their breakout self-titled release on Atlantic Records in 1995. It included the hits "Smile" and "Crash Into Me."

After a handful of years away from writing and touring, lead singer Goran Kralj, along with his family, moved to Nashville in 2012, where he landed a publishing deal to write songs for Dan Hodges Music.

Goran has co-written songs with artists like Jonathan Cain of Journey, Jason Duke, who wrote hits for Kelsea Ballerini, including "Dibs" and Keith Urban's "That Could Still Be US," as well as other songwriters in Nashville. Today, Goran continues to write songs with singable melodies and has had many of his tunes placed, most notably with country artist Jason Owen.

On Oct. 27, Goran comes full circle back to Milwaukee, where it all began.

Along with his longtime friend and Gufs guitarist Morgan Dawley, Goran will perform a timeline of The Gufs catalog, along with some post-Gufs material at The Back Room at Colectivo on Prospect Avenue.

Fans can expect to hear stories about the former Gufs band, their lives in Milwaukee and – of course – the songs that made those memories.

The show, with opener AJ of Northern Room, is Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Sept. 8 at noon.
