Spoon coming back to Milwaukee this fall
After a four-year hiatus, Spoon is back in action with a brand new album ("They Want My Soul") and a corresponding tour. And this afternoon, the band announced its return will include a return trip to Milwaukee.
The critically beloved band will make its grand return on Wednesday, Sept. 17 for an 8 p.m. show at The Riverside Theater.
Before its self-imposed hiatus, Spoon was on top of the indie alternative rock world. The combined efforts of its albums "Girls Can Tell," "Kill the Moonlight," "Gimme Fiction," "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" and "Transference" helped the band win raves, even earning the title of top overall artist of the decade from review aggregate Metacritic. Meanwhile, singles like "The Underdog," "Don't You Evah," "The Way We Get By" and "I Turn My Camera On" could be found all over, including the TV show "Veronica Mars" and "How I Met Your Mother," and films like "Horrible Bosses," "Stranger Than Fiction," "17 Again" and "(500) Days of Summer."
Spoon was last in Milwaukee in 2009, where it performed at Summerfest and then later on New Year's Eve at The Riverside. Soon after, the band began its break, going in different directions before recently announcing its new album and tour.
Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, June 27, beginning at noon.
