It's been a couple years since The National toured in support of its acclaimed 2007 release "Boxer," and honestly, not that much has changed with the band in the meantime.

Only one new song has surfaced, "So Far Around the Bend," which appears on "Dark Was the Night," a 31-track compilation that brothers (and The National members) Aaron and Bryce Dessner produced to benefit the AIDS-fighting Red Hot Organization.

But if you missed them when they played The Pabst Theater in September 2007, you're getting a second chance. They've booked another Milwaukee date and will be at The Pabst again on July 17 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $22.50 and go on sale Friday, March 27 at noon at The Pabst and The Riverside box offices, online at pabsttheater.org or by calling (414) 286-3663.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
