Burnhearts
2599 S. Logan Ave.
(414) 294-0490

In just a few short years, Burnhearts has become one of those bars on many peoples' "best of list." If a new tavern could have an old soul, Burnhearts really would -- it skillfully blends good music, stiff drinks, bartenders with tons of personality and a vibe that can best be described as "brothel chic."

Menu: About 15 interesting beers on tap and dozens more in bottles and cans. Look for hard-to-find favorites from co-owner Jess McCluskey's native Australia.

Price: Reasonable, though not especially cheap, unless you go for the daily specials, like $3 Furthermore beers on Mondays or $2 Pabsts and shots of Powers on Wednesday.

When to go: Burnhearts is one of those bars that can be just as crowded on a Monday night as it is on a weekend. Still, it's big enough that you can usually find a place to sit, but maybe not at the bar. DJs are spinning seemingly all the time, so the vibe is gonna be great.

Dress: This is hipster central, so expect to see people who've put a lot of effort into dressing like they don't care. Also, lots of beards.

Don't miss: Free shuffleboard in the back, and a wall of vintage nudes near the bathrooms. Talking about pin-up photos is a great way to break the ice.

Parking: Ample for this part of Bay View. Best-case scenario, you'll park right in front. Worst-case scenario, half a block away.
