Oscar Castaneda opened his eponymous Oscar's Pub and Grill at 1712 W. Pierce St., a block west of the far reaches of Walker's Point in the Clarke Square neighborhood, on March 15.

Pierce Street is one block north of National Avenue.

Castaneda told me that he's banking on his burgers. I'm headed down there soon to try one for myself.

"We serve awesome burgers on a fresh bun, with homemade french fries," he boasts.

I hear they have sweet potato fries, too. Can't wait to try those. I'll let you know the verdict soon.

Oscar's kitchen is open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
