An unexpected job loss is a shock to your system and an absolutely frightening experience. It takes you through an array of unfamiliar emotions. Uncertainty, anxiety, anger and stress can all set in very quick.

I know, I’m only two weeks in and I feel all of that and more! If you or someone you know has had to file for unemployment you understand how difficult and frustrating that can be, too.

With no advice from my previous employer, I hit the Internet to get a better grasp on what steps are needed to file for unemployment. I hit up Google and typed the letters J-O and before I even finished with B and S the Job Center Of Wisconsin popped up. It is a website that is "Connecting Wisconsin’s Workforce."

Curious of the website’s purpose, I spent some time exploring what this site could do for me, but I had difficulty finding anything on filing and collecting unemployment.

Feeling discouraged I closed out the page and called a friend.

My buddy John has gone through this several times. And who better to talk to than someone who knows how bad unemployment sucks, but also had been a success story as a direct result of the Job Center Of Wisconsin.

Here is my discussion with him. His insight has left me with an entirely different attitude about filing for unemployment and getting the assistance that people in my situation need.
