A staple on the West Side since 1976, Saz's became a household name by serving pork sandwiches, mozzarella marinara and other items at Summerfest, State Fair, Lambeau Field and countless festivals. Saz's ribs, barbecue sauce and appetizers are available at grocery stores throughout the area, but the restaurant remains the cornerstone of owner Steve Sazama's empire.

Located in a historic building next to the train tracks, Saz's offers an array of ribs, brisket, barbecue pork sandwiches, a Friday fish fry and a very underrated brunch.

A recent menu revision has placed the focus on barbecue items, like ribs, brisket and sausage. Although the "mozz" is still king, the mushroom caps stuffed with cheese and sausage have become a popular item as well.

Menu: American

Price: Moderate.

When to go: Saz's is a great stop before events at Miller Park, the Bradley Center or U.S. Cellular Arena. Check with a bartender about catching a shuttle to and from the game. It's closed Mondays.

Dress: It's not unusual to see folks in suits or "nice" clothes, but this is a place that concentrates on comfort. Jeans are fine.

Don't miss: The award-winning pork ribs, steamed to perfection and topped with Saz's signature sauce. The dinner comes with choice of house cole slaw or ranch baked beans and sour cream and chive fries or kettle chips.

Parking: You'll find ample parking on the lot, but at busy times you may have to park near the catering building just east of the restaurant.
