For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."

I love October because it's Dining Month.  How can't you?  This year, part of my regular contributions will include mini reviews of my dining experiences.  I'll include everything from dinners, lunches, coffee stops and more.

Greater Milwaukee is full of amazing restaurants and foodies alike, so why not a make a list, share our content and come along.  The eating is good.

Date: October 4, 2011
Place:  Beans and Barley
Item:  Chicken and black bean burrito

I love the burritos at Beans and Barley, 1901 E. North Ave.  Always fresh and never over stuffed, they are staple in my Milwaukee diet.

Today, I went with the chicken and black bean version.   Black beans, salsa chicken, Mexican white cheese, tomato and onion give it a wonderful taste explosion.  Topped with hot salsa (that, honestly, could be a bit hotter) and with a side of chips, this $6.50 lunch is perfect.

Next time you're on the East Side, stop at Beans.  They've been making the city's best burritos since 1979.  I'd put them up against anyone in town.
