The city is searching for the perfect tree

Have a huge pine tree in your yard? Know a neighbor with one?

The City of Milwaukee is looking for the perfect tree for this year's municipal Christmas tree, which will grace Red Arrow Park during the holiday season.

The tree must be at least 35 feet tall and be accessible for harvest with a crane.

The trees are judged on size, shape, uniformity, density and color.

Residents who want to get their tree on the list should contact the City of Milwaukee's call center at (414) 286-2489.

The trees will be evaluated and one will be selected the week of Nov. 1, harvested the week of Nov. 8 and lit at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Red Arrow Park.

Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker have been invited to attend the event that is just 16 days after the gubernatorial election.
