I’ve had a few opportunities to spend time with Green Bay Packers legend Jerry Kramer.

When I worked for the Wisconsin Sport Authority, I helped coordinate his 1993 induction into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, wrote his plaque that hangs on 4th Street in Downtown Milwaukee and curated the segments for his induction video. At every step during the the process, he was friendly, helpful, engaging and just a pleasure to be around.

A few weeks ago, my dad and I got to spend some time again with Kramer here in Milwaukee.  We talked about kids, youth in sports, leadership, Willie Davis’ old restaurant (Chi Chi’s) and the importance of tradition and family. It was great.

So, I was excited to see the commercial that Johnsonville is running at Lambeau Field. It features Kramer and as Kyle Cousineau commented on Twitter, it’s "absolutely fantastic."

The spot just began. "It is new as of last week, said Stephanie Dlugopolski, APR
Manager-PR & Social Media at Johnsonville.  "We are airing it just in the stadium and on the Packers TV shows. It gave me goosebumps when I saw it."

At 79, Kramer’s more than a Packers legend he’s a part of the fabric of our state and a game that’s become one of America’s passions.

Next up for Kramer?  We gotta get the guy into the NFL Hall of Fame!  Many are fighting for it, including past players and his daughter. Let’s get it done.
