America SCORES is an organization dedicated to providing urban kids with quality after-school programming.

On  Saturday, April 16, from 5 p.m. until midnight, America SCORES Milwaukee hosts its sixth annual charity adult co-ed soccer tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park, and proceeds will help four schools pay for after-school programs.

Kate Carpenter has been involved in the program for seven years, and this year, her goal is to raise $1,500.

"In almost seven years of service to America SCORES Milwaukee, I have seen more than 800 children benefit from this amazing program that dares to combine poetry, soccer and service-learning in the effort to build future leaders for our city," she says.

America SCORES Milwaukee reaches out to about 200 local kids in third through fifth grades. Program directors hope to raise enough money to expand the program. The cost to participate per family is $10, if they are able to afford it.
