For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."

There's a lot of talk about which foods pair well with wine and beer, but my question is, what foods taste good with whiskey?

I love Thai, Indian, Mexican and Italian food the most, and yet, I cannot think of a single dish that sounds appealing with whiskey. I've also found that I like whiskey and candy, particularly Good & Plenty or black licorice, but that sounds more like a late-night snack combination than an actual meal.

Maybe whiskey is supposed to be consumed simply as a liquid lunch or a drinkable dinner? Maybe it's not beef-and-chicken kind of booze? Maybe it's a "flask food?"
