Anyone in the market to buy a jazz club? If so, it's your lucky day: The Jazz Estate, 2423 N. Murray Ave., is for sale.

"We haven't found a buyer yet, but we recently put the building and bar on the market," says co-owner Brian Sanders.

Sanders purchased the building and the iconic jazz club with Mike Honkamp 14 years ago. The business partners are ready to do something new with their lives and considered hiring a manager to take over nightly operations, but decided against it.

"We decided rather than hire a manager it was time to let new blood have a go at the place," says Honkamp.

The Jazz Estate originally opened in 1977. Over the years, it has hosted many local and national acts including a standing, Tuesday-night gig for The Erotic Adventures of The Static Chicken.

"Ideally, we would like to find a buyer who would want to keep it The Jazz Estate," says Sanders. "It has a lot of history and it's unique to the city."

Sanders says he and Honkamp are not in a hurry to sell the building and do not plan to close the bar before finding a buyer.

"I'm flexible," says Sanders.
