The Skylight Opera Theatre Got Rocked!

Saturday at the Skylight Theatre was truly a night to remember. The stage, which is usually home to opera and musicals, was transformed into a rock haven. A handful of Milwaukee’s best vocalists were brought together to perform benefitting the Broadway Theatre Center. Songs from rock musicals such as "RENT" and "American Idiot" filled the room with excitement. I was so impressed with the level of professionalism on this Milwaukee stage. The solos and duets were brought to a close with a tribute to Queen that was out of this world and so exciting that the crowd couldn’t help but join in during “Bohemian Rhapsody.” But the night of rock had just begun. After a short intermission the lights on the Cabot Theatre Stage lit up once again to highlight the Milwaukee based rock band, Revolush. Two-year winner of the best Milwaukee male vocalist voted by the Shepherd Express, Tommy Hahn showcased a broad range of talent and stage presence. Maxwell Emmet and Bill Reuter complemented each other on guitar while drummer Chris Kollman never missed a beat. Reading a review really cannot display the talent that Revolush has acquired since they started in 2005. Come join me and other die-hard fans Aug. 20 at Shank Hall as the group pays tribute to Cheap Trick’s: Live at Budokan.
