Knees to the Grounded: Casual, hardcore fans both part of MMA's mainstream move
Most real reggae fans wouldn't say "Legend" was Bob Marley's greatest work, though it was his best-selling album and appealed to the masses. Similarly, as MMA continues to infiltrate the mainstream, there's lots of push-back against casual or new fans. But they should be embraced as the sport grows.

Politics make people want to fight. Fighting makes people want to discuss. Conversations that I thought would be impossible have been conducted earnestly after a 10-minute sparring session or post-submission. We need more combat. Mixed martial arts is what can save us.

Well Informed Citizens' single rocks MMA broadcast
As an early taste of its upcoming second full-length disc, Milwaukee band Well Informed Citizens has issued a CD single to ring in the new year. "Leaders of the Revolution" is a rough-edged, hard as nails song that has found the perfect mate in WCGV-TV (Channel 24 in Milwaukee) show, "Wisconsin MMA Today." The song will be the theme for the show, which airs Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. through February.
