For more than a year now, the conservative outrage machine has had its sights squarely on the Internal Revenue Service. I mean, among other things; the conservative outrage machine is an accomplished multi-tasker, so the IRS has had to compete with Benghazi and Fast and Furious and the machine's continuing surprise that a U.S. president enjoys golf.


Losing trust in the government

At first, it seemed people that didn't trust the government lived in isolated rural outposts and were survivalists hell bent on avoiding taxes. There was a certain stigma attached to being a government dissenter. Alas, images of tin foil hats and mysterious black helicopters are easy to envision.

IRS releases list of Wisconsinites owed undeliverable tax refund

The Internal Revenue Service announced today that nearly $849,000 is waiting for Wisconsin taxpayers whose income tax refund checks were sent back to the IRS as undeliverable. That money is owed to 1,164 Wisconsinites, of whom 312 live in Milwaukee County. Their average check is $729.
