Our worst Summerfest shows of all time

Published July 10, 2017

Last week, we reminisced about the finest concerts Summerfest had to offer us. But because there must be the bad with the good, the excrement to go with the exemplary, the vegan options to go with the Saz's sampler platter, here are our worst shows.

The night Reitman introduced me to a music legend

Published Jan. 3, 2017

The years erode my ability to recall what concert four of us from WSUW, the college radio station, drove to Milwaukee to see. I don't know who or where or how I even paid for a ticket. But what I do remember about that night was amazing.

Hallelujah, Leonard, I'm your man!

Published March 16, 2013

I was a lukewarm Leonard Cohen fan until last night, but now I'm close to red hot. I always respected the man's work, chuckled at a few of his best lines and adored, along with generations of Americans, his song "Hallelujah."

Album covers have immortalized many non-rockers

Published Feb. 28, 2011

News that one-time Dylan muse Suze Rotolo has died led to a chat about how many knew her strictly from her appearance on the cover of Bob Dylan's 1963 LP, "The Freewhelin' Bob Dylan." That record showed Dylan and Rotolo arm in arm, strolling up Jones Street toward West 4 in the Village in New York. It's become an iconic image of rock and roll and of the folk scene in downtown Manhattan.
