On streetcars, utilities and transit innovation

For the benefit of Wisconsin and visitors to our fine state, Milwaukee's moving forward with a streetcar. In addition, the Downtown trolley is back this summer and other options like Uber Black and Lyft are here now, too. Options are good. Cars are great. They all work well together.


MPS aquaponics program expanding to five new schools

Milwaukee Public Schools' Urban Schools Aquaponics initiative has received a two-year, $98,000 contribution from AT&T and the NEA Foundation. The new funding will expand the program into five new schools and a total of 1,500 MPS students over a two-year period.


TV media coverage headline cringe-worthy

There is a lot of that - shaking my head thing - going around this new year, and when I read the headline in the largest media property in the state, it bugged me. "Take that Time Warner! JBG reaches new retransmission agreements"


Urban spelunking: Wisconsin Telephone Co. Building

Hard as it is to believe, there is one Downtown Milwaukee building that is basically hardwired to almost every building and residence in town. That is the Wisconsin Telephone Co. (now AT&T) Building at 722 N. Broadway. Recently, I got a quick tour of the building, which was designed by no less than Alexander Eschweiler.
