The big screen has always been home to larger than life characters. Milwaukee local cult figure Clarence Garrett certainly belongs in that category. For decades, Clarence's huge personality and unabashed friendliness added a colorful, loud shade of thread to the city's fabric. His life and legend is almost too big to contained on the big screen - but fellow Milwaukeean and filmmaker Kristin Catalano and her documentary "Clarence" certainly try.

This morning, the Milwaukee Film Festival announced its lineup for the 2015 Cream City Cinema program, which highlights the talents of locally-based filmmakers - and awards one with a $5,000 cash prize. This year's collection of picks includes three documentaries, two feature-length fiction films and four shorts programs - including the debut of the "The Milwaukee Music Video Show."

Attention, Milwaukee filmmakers. Milwaukee Film is now accepting entries for the seventh annual Milwaukee Film Festival, which runs Sept. 24-Oct. 8. For the fourth year in a row, the festival is offering free submission for all films and is promising to award at least $16,000 in cash awards this year.
