Wally Schmidt tavern will reopen this fall as The Tandem

In November, we reported plans to revive the historic Wally Schmidt tavern, located on Fond du Lac Avenue in the Lindsay Heights Neighborhood. Since then we've learned that a local chef has signed on to operate the restaurant, slated to open in fall.

Groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of green Healing Collective

An eco-friendly building, called the Healing Collective, will be completed in March 2012, and to celebrate the initial efforts, the groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 19 at the future building location, 538 S. 2nd St. Mayor Barrett will speak at the event.
