New Torrent women's team gives area soccer players high-level opportunity

The Torrent on Thursday announced the addition of a sister team that will begin play in the Women's Premier Soccer League in 2018. It will provide women the chance to continue playing soccer at a competitive level in Milwaukee, where no such option currently exists.

Paxton's Pablove Fest to fight childhood cancer with love, music

In memory of 5-month-old Paxton Andrews who lost his battle with cancer earlier this summer, the first annual Paxton's Pablove Fest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon to 7 p.m. on the Hart Park Rotary Performance Stage in Wauwatosa. The event is a fundraiser for the Pablove Foundation.


Colonel Hart's serves a history lesson with libations

History is a natural topic of conversation at Colonel Hart's, 7342 W. State St., because the bar is named for Wauwatosa's first settler -- Charles Hart -- and the walls and tabletops are filled with sports memorabilia from the glory days of the Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, Packers and Marquette. While it was never flashy and hasn't changed a lot in the past 20-plus years, the bar feels as comfortable as a pair of old jeans.
