Rose Windows filters shards of sound into kaleidoscopic style

Like the architectural element for which the band is named Seattle's Rose Windows create a sound that is kaleidoscopic and seemingly all-encompassing. As the band wends its way toward Milwaukee for a Saturday, Aug. 31 gig at the Cactus Club with Old Earth and our own Jaill, we caught up with frontman Chris Cheveyo to talk about the record, the band's influences and more.


Four-day festival fetes two years of The Hotel Foster

The Hotel Foster carries on a great tradition of live music in the club at 2028 E. North Ave. Even before the Boardwalk and after The Globe, this space has been a hospitable venue for local musicians. To celebrate its two-year anniversary, The Hotel Foster is joining forces with Seizure Chicken to present the four-day Foster Fest, from Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 5.


Jaill feels right at home at Sub Pop

Jaill's second Sub Pop release, "Traps," is here, and like its predecessor, 2010's "That's How We Burn," it's laced with twitchy, catchy slices of guitar pop. As Friday's record release party nears, we asked drummer Austin Dutmer about working with Sub Pop, recording "Traps" at home and more.
