What's shakin' with The Shivvers?

One of the bands in late '70s/early '80s Milwaukee that seemed most primed to succeed on a bigger stage was The Shivvers, a melodic pop rock band that featured the distinctive voice of lead singer Jill Kossoris. Part Blondie, part Rapsberries, The Shivvers released a single back then, but the group's long-playing power pop masterwork -- the eponymous "The Shivvers" would have to wait years to see release. Now that it's out on wax, we caught up with Kossoris to check in.

A dull beat-up van slowly pulled into the driveway and an interesting looking skinny man wearing a beret and walking with a distinctive bounce in his step approached the front door. Richard politely introduced himself to me and my parents. My mind began to race.


Milwaukee's pop Shivvers get a new lease on life

Imagine writing a song so memorable that 20 years later a record label appropriates the title for its name. That's what happened to long-defunct Milwaukee band The Shivvers. With a retrospective CD out, the band is finding overdue success in America and abroad.
