A lot has changed in Milwaukee over the years, and especially in Bay View. But one thing that's remained constant for nearly 126 years is the white clapboard tavern on the corner of Ellen Street, where Kinnickinnic Avenue bends off to the right.

Although the sign on the door says, "the bar is closed until further notice," Bay View Business Association President Charles Livermore says Kneisler's White House, 2900 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., can't be ruled "out of business" yet.
