The issue is an important one. Folks across the city are watching to see how this plays out. Future enrollment in the district may not be affected not simply by how it ends, but also by how it is handled by MPS.

Competing plans for 68th Street School program head to the board

Since the Milwaukee Board of School Directors gave MPS superintendent Dr. Gregory Thornton an extra month to work out a relocation site for the early childhood education program at 68th Street School, which the board voted in December to close at the end of this school year, community activists have been busy working on a plan of their own. Next week, their plan will face off with the district's proposal at the January meeting of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.
