In tennis, there is only one American is in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) top 20. There are five Americans in the top 15 of the World Golf Rankings, but non-Americans keep winning major tournaments way out of proportion to their numbers. What's happening to Americans in individual sports?


Champions, LPGA tours perfect fit for Milwaukee

The Champions Tour is returning to the Chicago area for the first time since 2002 with the Encompass Championship taking place at historic North Shore Country Club this weekend. There are now reports that the tour is looking at expanding into Milwaukee. It would be a perfect fit - along with the LPGA Tour - for a golf-crazed city.


Say no way to the PGA Tour: Bring on the girls

Milwaukee's PGA tournament closed its clubhouse in 2009 after decades as a second-rate tour stop and a few years as a third-rate event. There were no stars stopping in Milwaukee. Attendance was almost non-existent. But, I am convinced that Milwaukee could stage a LPGA Tour even that would be one of the best and biggest on the women's tour.


What's wrong with American athletes?

What the heck has happened to Americans? The subject is some individual sports and what's happened to the American athlete, brought about by the recent U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run and by the impending start of the Olympic Games in London. The evidence that something is wrong is clear and unassailable.
