After a year of professional and personal soul searching, Steph Davies is very satisfied with where she and her business, Waxwing, have landed. The shop will open next Friday in a new space on the East Side.

The Waxwing, an art gallery and artists' boutique, will move from its Shorewood location to new East Side digs, 1800 E. North Ave. The space - which is four times larger than the current location - is on the corner of North and Oakland Avenues - exactly where Pizza Man was before it was consumed by a fire.

Earlier this month, Steph Davies announced that her art and gift consignment shop, Waxwing, would close at the end of February. Well, plans have changed and The Waxwing will remain open through January 2016.

In 2012, Steph Davies opened The Waxwing, a local art and handmade gifts boutique at 4415 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood. Recently Davies learned that her landlord Nat Davauer was not going to renew her lease because he plans to use the space to expand his business Draft and Vessel which is located next door.
