In Milwaukee, 89 percent of K-12th grade students have their required vaccinations, an all-time high, and three percentage points higher than the rate in 2013, according to a new report from Milwaukee NNS. The compliance rate at Milwaukee Public Schools is 90 percent, according to Tony Tagliavia, spokesman for the district. That rate is not high enough to protect Milwaukee residents from an outbreak of a disease such as the measles.

Stay away from Facebook, it's covered in germs. If it wasn't alarming enough that every third social media post appears to be about a feverish and/or vomiting child, the news at some local schools has been pretty crazy, too.

For the past decade, Milwaukee Public Schools enrollment has been falling with each passing year. Then, this year, something curious happened. Enrollment edged up. That gain may be attributed, at least in part, to a door-to-door canvassing program that took place last summer and will be expanded this year.
