Bay View bike route progresses slowly

In 1991, the federal government designated $1.5 million for a bikeway that would "enhance the use of bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation between Downtown Milwaukee and the Bay View neighborhood." Construction on a key segment will start later this month.

Cyclists may get a bike path with a view

An extra lane could be created on the Hoan Bridge -- a bike lane. Local bicycling groups hope a 10-year-old plan to create a bike lane on the Hoan Bridge will be revitalized in an effort to make Milwaukee more bicycle-friendly.
