There’s a craze going around Facebook lately that has people posting a list of nine bands they’ve seen live, with one fib added for good measure. The poster’s friends are supposed to ferret out the ruse.

As Facebook time-killers go, I’ve seen worse.

Here are a couple examples:

Here’s my list – in no particular order – but, as a twist in honor of Summerfest’s 50th anniversary, I’m doing 10 concerts I’ve seen at Summerfest.

I caution you that I’ve been writing about music for the media since 1986, so I’ve not only seen bands by choice, I’ve seen them on assignment, too, making it maybe a little more difficult to guess which one is not like the others based on my tastes (if you happen to know those).

  1. Elvis Costello, 2009
  2. Kool & the Gang, 1983
  3. The Temptations, 1987
  4. Roger Daltrey, 2010
  5. Stevie Ray Vaughan, 1983
  6. Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, 1999
  7. Milli Vanilli, 1989
  8. Paul McCartney, 2016
  9. Fleetwood Mac, 1995
  10. Eric Clapton, 1983

Be the first to correctly guess which is the lie in a comment on the OnMilwaukee Facebook posting of this story and you’ll win a pair of tickets to Summerfest 50!
