The Big Gig BBQ is on Labor Day and will feature plenty of entertainment and family fun.

Second annual Big Gig BBQ set for Sept. 3

Summerfest 50 has come and gone and the long wait for Summerfest 51 begins. Luckily, to help alleviate some of the waiting pains, Summerfest will be hosting their second annual Big Gig BBQ on Labor Day, Sept. 3, at Henry Maier Festival Park. The event will be free for all to attend and will also feature no-charge parking.

The Big Gig BBQ will have food from 14 local and regional BBQ cookers with tasting size portions available to purchase. There will also be cooking tips and tricks from the BBQ experts, from whom attendees can learn how the pros use certain spices and grilling techniques. Be sure to also vote on the BBQ cooker that grills up the best food in the first-ever Big Gig Pig Award contest.

Watch as local celebrities stuff their mouths with bacon as they battle each other to become the 2017 Big Gig BBQ Bacon Eating Champ. Justin Barney of 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, Scott Dolphin of FM106.1, Kaitlin Sharkey of FOX6 Sports and more will be present to compete.

Family-friendly activities will be available, as well, including lawn games like corn hole and giant jenga, games of skill like robotic wrestling, children's activities from the Betty Brinn Children's Museum and much more.

Of course, what would a Big Gig event be without some live music? The Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard and South Pavilion will feature entertainment from the likes of Leroy Airmaster with Junior Brantley, Chasin' Mason, Danny Miller Band and more.
