The only thing better than tickets is discount tickets – and a partnership between Discovery World and the all-new Black Arts Fest MKE, taking place Aug. 4 at Henry Maier Festival Park, is offering that times two.

Those who purchase advance tickets for Black Arts Fest MKE – which are already at a 30 percent discount at just $9 – now through Aug. 3 will also receive free admission to Discovery World throughout the month of August. Each person eligible for the free Discovery World admission – which is all patrons aged 8 years old and older – must present their advance Black Arts Fest MKE ticket in order for entry, with no photocopies honored.

"Discovery World is a premier science and technology center, and Black Arts Fest MKE is the largest celebration of African and African American culture in Milwaukee," said Black Arts Fest MKE Executive Director Patrice Harris, in a press release. "This is a tremendous opportunity for the public to revel in two different experiences, and we hope our patrons recognize the generosity of Discovery World and take advantage of an unforgettable experience."

Introduced just last month, Black Arts Fest MKE is a new summer festival focused on African-American heritage, community and culture – the first event of its kind on the Summerfest grounds since African World Festival in 2013. The family-friendly festival, hosted from noon until midnight on Saturday, Aug. 4, will showcase different forms of cultural expression from the black community, ranging from music to dance to art and more, as well as shine a spotlight on black-owned businesses from the area.

"Discovery World is thrilled that Black Arts Fest MKE is heading to Milwaukee’s lakefront this summer," said Discovery World President and CEO Joel Brennan, in the release. "This event will inspire and strengthen our community, and we hope that attendees will take advantage of the partnership and join us at Discovery World for an unforgettable day of science, technology, engineering and math."

Advance tickets for the brand new festival are available exclusively at Black Arts Fest MKE's website, along with more information about the event. And stay tuned to OnMilwaukee (a proud sponsor of Black Arts Fest MKE) for more updates on one of the summer's newest festivals.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
