There we all were, thinking that, after all the individual Amp headliner announcements and the giant grounds stage headliner announcement and then the smaller grounds stage headliner announcement and then the individual stage-by-stage headliner announcements, we were done with Summerfest headliner announcements.

How naive.

Yes, the Big Gig today announced yet another headliner, this time The Isley Brothers, who will take the BMO Harris Pavilion on July 1. The classic soul singers will replace Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, who had to drop out from the performance due to personal reasons.

As far as last-minute replacements go, snagging The Isley Brothers is a solid get. Led by founding members Ronald and Ernie Isley, the funky Motown legends and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers – who will return to the BMO Harris Pavilion after playing the venue at the Big Gig two years ago – have an impressive lineup of iconic, genre-bouncing hits including "Who's That Lady," "Twist and Shout," "It's Your Thing" and more.

Maze tickets bought via Ticketmaster – either by phone or online – will be automatically refunded, while those purchased in person at the box office will have to be returned to the original purchase location for a full refund. Summerfest will also email Maze reserved seat ticket holders a special presale password for those who would like to purchase advance tickets for The Isley Brothers. The pre-sale will take place Thursday, May 25 at 10 a.m. until Sunday, May 28 at 10 p.m.

Reserved tickets will then go on sale to the public starting Tuesday, May 30 at noon, at the American Family Insurance box office and Ticketmaster.com.

For more updates – and who knows; maybe another headliner announcement – as Summerfest 50 draws near, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
