The Christmas decorations are down, that late winter chill is in the air and February is in full swing. For some of us, February is just that short, cold month we like to forget about. For others, it’s time to dig out the red and pink lights, the heart-shaped decor, and to be happy we have yet another excuse to gorge on chocolates and other sweets.

That’s right: It’s "Valentine’s Day Season," and love is in the air! LOVE? In a furniture store?  REALLY?

While most homeowners aren’t going to do an entire decor overhaul for Valentine’s Day like we do for holidays like Christmas and Halloween, it can be the perfect excuse to get a little creative and throw in some sweetheart-inspired accents.

While Steinhafels is primarily known for big ticket items like sofas, beds, mattresses and dining room tables, we have quite an array of fun and quirky accessories to fit every season. In this case, you can expect to be seeing a little more red than usual as you peruse through our stores.

It’s also a time to think about our furniture pieces in a new way and the emotions they inspire. How about a new twist on the classic LOVE seat? As Decorating Solutions interior decorator Anne Sperry explains, "This handy 'chair and a half' has played many roles for families through the years."

  • Saving marriages by bringing couples closer together – literally!
  • A special seat while reading to our children and grandchildren, or helping them with homework.
  • A snuggle spot for finding comfort with our pets after a long day.

Or how about an oversized chair with an ottoman? Now there’s an opportunity to get REALLY cozy with your sweetie.

You can also toss a few fuzzy red throw pillows, a heart-adorned accent pillow and a flower (rose petals recommended!) to the master bed, adding a little playful sizzle to your relationship.

Like all of our interior decorators, Anne is very passionate about her work. She was even inspired to share a short poem with us – to express the strong connection between love and furniture:

Memories in my mind complete
of comfort in the loving seat
where his reading prose and lilacs lay
To link our souls throughout the day

A nest where naps and dreams knit
beyond the window, birds flit
From toy poodle to our labrador
Whose constant love I most adore

Grandchild and I, cuddled close as peas
At end of day stories tickle and tease
Memories in my mind complete
of joy that lives in our loving seat
