Admirals' Juuse Saros, Alexandre Carrier selected for AHL All-Star Classic

The American Hockey League announced today that goaltender Juuse Saros and defenseman Alexandre Carrier will represent the Admirals at the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, to be held Jan. 29-30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Currently on recall to parent club Nashville, Saros has posted impressive numbers while in Milwaukee this year, going 11-2 with a 1.76 goals against average, a .938 save percentage and one shutout. He is currently in second place in the league in GAA and save percentage and tied for third in wins, despite playing only 13 games. The Forssa, Finland, native was named the AHL Goalie of the Month in November after he won all five of his starts and allowed just seven goals on 156 shots, a .955 save percentage.

In his first pro season in North America in 2015-16, Saros was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team after going 29-8 with a 2.24 GAA, a .920 save percentage, and four shutouts. Overall in his Admirals career he is 40-10 and a 2.12 GAA, .925 save percentage and five shutouts.

He has also found success on the NHL level as well this season, going 3-2-1 with the Predators and he recently registered his first NHL shutout with 25-save performance on December 30 against St. Louis.

A rookie defenseman, Carrier has recorded 20 points on four goals and 16 assists to go along with a +4 rating while playing in all 31 of the team's games so far this year. He is the Admirals leading rookie scorer, fourth overall on the club, and also fourth among AHL first-year blueliners. He has also recorded a pair of power-play goals and his eight PP assists are tops on the team.

The Quebec City native tallied a seven-game assist streak from Nov. 4 through 19, which is tied for the second longest streak in the league this season. Selected by the Predators in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Carrier finished off a distinguished junior career with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL where he tallied 137 points (29g-108a) in four seasons and was named a Second Team All-Star in 2015.

The 2017 AHL All-Star Skills Competition presented by Giant Food Stores and Velaspan on Jan. 29 (7:30 p.m. ET) will pit the All-Stars from the two Eastern Conference divisions against those from the two Western Conference divisions in seven skills events.

In the 2017 AHL All-Star Challenge on Jan. 30 (7 p.m. ET), the four teams will participate in a round-robin tournament featuring six games of 10 minutes each, played entirely at 3-on-3. The two teams with the best records at the end of the round-robin will face off for the championship, a six-minute game also played at 3-on-3.
