Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and the Packers organization announced today they have partnered to each make a $100,000 donation to the Green Bay Police Foundation.

The donations are matching grants, requiring the Green Bay Police Foundation to raise an additional $200,000 in order to secure the donations from McCarthy and the Packers Corporation.

The Green Bay Police Foundation, founded in June of this year, is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence in area police departments and helps to improve public safety and partnerships in the community.

The donations from McCarthy and the Packers will be directed to support the Foundation’s efforts to build and enhance relationships between the police and the community.

"I’m excited to support the Green Bay Police Foundation and its work to help all the Green Bay communities build those relationships," McCarthy said. "It’s important so our children can grow, they can invest, and they can project a healthier and safer community. We want to shine a positive light on the enhancement of these engagement projects that are already in place."

The Packers organization was honored to follow McCarthy’s lead.

"We are proud to be involved in an initiative that will benefit the greater Green Bay area and have a lasting impact on our community," Murphy said.

The Green Bay Police Foundation is supported by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and invests in innovative community-based programs, technology, strategies, training, and equipment designed to help area public safety departments expand their focus on safety and needs of the community.

The Packers’ corporate donation is a component of Green Bay Packers Give Back, the Packers’ all-encompassing community outreach initiative. Combined with other Green Bay Packers charity endeavors, the awards contribute to a comprehensive Packers charity impact that was in excess of $6.5 million in the past year.
